MISSION
The Foundation’s mission is to enhance the quality of life for the greater Minneapolis community by visioning, investing in, and advocating for the Minneapolis park system and other open green spaces.
Connection is critical to implementing our mission:
- connection of park land and open green spaces, such as greenways;
- connection within and among communities;
- connection to our natural environment;
- connection of cultures; and
- connection of generations.
PRIORITIES
Nature and Sustainability: Enhancing our environment by focusing on sustainability, green technologies/practices, environmental education, rich and active experiences for children in nature, increased biodiversity in plant selection, and beautifying our parks through thoughtful nature-focused design, all to strengthen our connection to our natural environment.
Attractiveness: Increasing the utilization of our parks by providing more self-directed activities for all ages, more unique events; more art/music/theater in a greater number of parks, more imaginative moments, all to increase connections with family and friends, with community, and with our imagination.
Multicultural and Multigenerational Focus: Creating a sense of place for our different cultures and ages in our parks; increasing intercultural and intergenerational interactions, towards a greater understanding of our varied city and connections among its diverse elements.
